MEDIA ADVISORY                                                                          MARCH 4, 2021

KENANSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA – Who are you when they aren’t looking? A virtual event scheduled for students, faculty, and staff at James Sprunt Community College will help attendees to answer that question and “take the mask off mental illness.”

The motivational guest speaker of the event will be Theoren Fleury. Fleury is the former NHL All-Star, Stanley Cup winner, Olympic Gold Medalist, and a two-time best-selling author of Playing with Fire and Conversations with a Rattlesnake. He is a person of great life experience with extensive knowledge in the field of relational trauma and was awarded the Canadian Humanitarian Award.

Fleury will speak to students, virtually, on April 27, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. about mental illness and the challenges that he has faced throughout his life. Fleury will share his prolific story on childhood abuse, his rise and fall from the NHL, and his resilience to becoming a victor over mental illness.

The event is free to faculty, staff, and students at James Sprunt Community College who are interested in attending the event. Registration is taking place now and can be completed at the following link:
